Jon and Vinny’s Slauson, 11/15/21 Grand Opening

Google reviews now has photos of people eating and drinking in the Jon and Vinny’s Slauson edition! Perhaps a friends and family soft opening?!?!? OMG!!!

OMG!! The Jon & Vinny’s location is opening November 15, 2021 :). After much anticipation (with a ~2 year wait), South LA residents are literally on the edge of their seats for Vinny Dotolo’s third location. Hiring staff signs hung in the windows, and were posted to their Instagram in September 2021.
These are the same people who brought LA Son of a Gun, Helen’s Wines, Animal, Kismet and the critic’s darling, Petit Trois - they are now opening a View Park location!! As mentioned in EaterLA, thier catering company, Carmelized Productions has been successful in Inglewood (who knew catering and Delta Airlines business class food was the way to go). Thus, not a far cry to continue investing in South LA. LA Times said the former Yee’s Chinese Food restaurant sold for $2.4M and other sources said the former owner retired.
The story - as heard via the South LA grape vine: the Jon & Vinny’s team originally planned to only use it for their cater/cooking operations but when the community put up a fuss - they changed their mind and altered the designs to accommodate for food / dining section for customers!! From the renderings shown in EaterLA , it looks like a full on sit-down (whooopp, talk about commitment). When it was just planned as a catering facility, NextDoor comments centered around - why are all the nice restaurants in XX neighborhood?? So understandably, the community felt left out. I heard about the neighborhood meet and greet, and as a mea culpa/peace offering, the Jon & Vinny’s team handed out tasty pizza (so sad I missed it) while getting to know its residents and explain their vision. How considerate is that?
For now - will have to satiate our need with a drive-by and continue drooling over their food porn IG account (screenshot below).

Their Slauson phone number (when called on 11/7) didn’t confirm they were open YET: …We are so excited to be here and can’t wait to open. Our opening date is still to be determined, but it will be sometime in October… So phone message is dated since it is now November and no clear sign of opening! Gasp.
Updated 11/08/2021: Jon & Vinny’s official IG clarified: We aren’t open yet, but hope to be serving soon! So officially NOT yet open yet, so the wait continues.
