Where to Find Festive Holiday Lights in Los Angeles

Grab your warm puffer jackets, baby it’s cold outside! Finally a winter where you can cuddle close to loved ones, and sip hot chocolate while get in the festive spirit.

As the weekend nears -we seek out moods oozing the holiday spirit. Here are my top hit-lists to get out there and celebrate the Christmas cheer with loved ones.

Christmas Lights at Santa’s Speedway

Drive-by experience to enjoy Christmas lights on the Irwindale Speedway. Following the 2020 Covid year, they revamped and improved. New course with 7 new light displays and a 110’ foot tree — talk about epic. I’m looking forward to a 40 foot train with Santa! Tickets are $59 - $75 per carload, which means the whole family can go for the price of one! Their slogan: hey are bigger, brighter, merrier — can’t argue with that.

LA Zoo Lights

Practically an annual LA tradition! Wander thru an illuminated, animal themed zoo, nightscape. Great for kids as it is short and sweet. Not to fear, certain areas of the zoo are cordoned off to allow the daytime animals to catch their ZZZZzzzz but you can peek at the nocturnal ones! I’m personally curious about this Holiday Village and 200 foot tunnel light for Instagram worthy purposes, I mean, making memories. Tickets $16 - $24, rain or shine.

Candy Cane Lane

So off the beaten path, only a Yelp page exists with visitor’s tips. This 71 year old, tradition - where all the residential houses on Acacia in El Segundo decorate with cheery displays and scenes! My personal favorite is the Snoopy Themed house. Skip the mini-traffic jam, park on neighboring streets and walk over. IMHO, solid lights and a short drive from LA city proper; as I try to avoid the valley at all costs! Free.

Holiday Road at King’s Gillette Ranch

Fun fact, this historic ranch was named the Gillette razor businessman, so go back in time with this Calabasas spot! Get in the spirit with food trucks, a souvenir shop or clink glasses at the Holiday Bar. This event is so successful, the it’s offered in 2 other cities! $35 per person
